Name's Matt Murdock. Don't call me Matthew, mind your damn manners, don't fight dirty, and we should be fine...oh yeah, and uh...no blind jokes.

I need someone to fight…

Boxing practice? Anyone? Martial arts? Any takers?

Bucky’s gone so I lost my punching partner. Maybe I should invest in a punching bag…

This school seems filled with willing fighters, and I am always up for a worthy opponent. Though I cannot say that I have seen you before. I am Thor Odinson.

You’re that uh…Thor guy, right? Brodinson? Asgardian…

Never fought an Asgardian…that might not end well for me…

I’m Matt Murdock and uh…I’ve never seen you here either. New, right? Well it’d be more shocking if I did see you I guess. Blind joke.

Let’s do it. You’re like super strong and all that, but I’m up for the challenge. Don’t like…kill me or nothin’ though. Darcy’d probably be a little bit angry if I up and died on her.

He shrugged, laughing as he turned to finish what he was cooking. “Eh…I’m sure you’ll come up with some more winners. I think you’re the only one I’ve really let do that…the blind joke thing I mean. With you it’s uh…” He trailed off, a soft smile secreted away on his face, which leaned down as if he was looking at the stovetop in front of him. “With you it’s different…” He finished up and plated what he was cooking. All the drawers memorized, seamless like he knew the place already. He set the plates on a small poor excuse for a dining room table that was in the corner of the kitchen, but paused as he did and just as quick removed them. He carried them off to another room. “Come on, gorgeous!”

His voice leads her to his room. Small, with a mattress on the floor in one corner. Not much, but with a lot of boxing stuff up everywhere. A couple trophies in another corner bearing the name “Jack Murdock” in big bold engravings. Hanging on the walls are a pair of old boxing gloves, and a tattered black and yellow costume with the words “Battlin’ Jack” across its front. When Darcy’s walked in he’s already set the plates down on the bed. Sitting on the edge of the mattress, he’s finishing up lighting a ridiculous amount of candles that sit scattered all over the room, sheltered in different glass holders. “Best seat in the house,” he says with a smile that for the first time seems almost shy.

Different? Ha. She was about as different as a a grain of rice but…it felt nice. Darcy followed him into the bedroom, grabbing both of their wine glasses as she did. She looked in awe around the candlelit room. She slipped off her heels and set the wine down before she smoothed down her dress as she sat down close to him on the bed. “I definitely agree.” Darcy said, taking her first bite of food and almost moaning in delight. “This is…delicious, Matty.” Her hand went to his thigh as she took another sip of her wine and looked around the room. “I’m gonna make a small assumption that Battlin’ Jack is your dad.”

Matt felt himself blush, which was a damned rare thing for him to do. “Uh…yeah. Guess I should probably take some of that old shit down.” He cast his head down for a moment, until he could muster one of his charming grins. He didn’t want to talk about his sob story. “How’s the food? Decent?” He felt her hand on his thigh, and grabbed it gently. It was so small compared to his. He brought it up to his lips and kissed her knuckles.
